Rahim Fortune is a Photographer and Director who splits his time between Austin, Texas, and Brooklyn, New York, and uses photography to fundamentally question American identity.
An already established Photographer, he has been commissioned by and his work featured in publications including The New York Times Magazine, ID Magazine (cover), Harper’s Bazaar and New York Magazine: The Cut. With Directing becoming a new way for him to get behind the camera, he has hit the ground running, directing a spot for global brand Nike as one of his early jobs in Commercials.
Rahim was the winner of the Rencontres d’Arles Louis Roederer Discovery Award in 2022, and his photobook “I Can’t Stand To See You Cry”, which unpacks his identity and experience through a biographical approach to photography, was nominated for PhotoBook of the Year 2021 at the Paris Photo-Aperture PhotoBook Awards.
